My name is Erin Beth Liles, and I am the owner/editor of In a Perfect Word Editing.
I enjoy books and movies, and I’m a strong believer in having office pets around to inspire a great working environment–or at least a cute one. I read constantly. I don’t really care what genre, although I’m partial to YA–just give me a great story! But I love an interesting nonfiction book too.
Oh, and I adore coffee. You probably figured that out from my webpage.
For many years, I edited for organizations such as Legal Zoom, Next Wave Advocacy, and Texas State University. Then, five years ago, I started my own editing business, In a Perfect Word Editing.
My credentials include:
- Bachelor’s degree from Texas State University
- Editing certificate from UC San Diego
- Developmental editing study with the Editorial Freelancers Association and the Author-Editor Clinic
- Experience editing for large and small publishing houses
- Substantial work with independent authors
- Specialization in Young Adult and Children’s Fiction
I also write young adult novels and children’s picture books, and I am currently pursuing a certificate with UC San Diego’s Children’s Book Writing Program. My work is represented by Michelle Witte at Mansion Street Literary Agency.
Working with stories and their authors is my passion. Some days, I look at the clock and see that hours have gone by as I’ve been reading and editing, and I think how lucky I am to get to read all day long!
I am invested in keeping my skills finely tuned. Therefore, I participate in many high-quality editing and writing courses each year.
As a member of the Association of Independent Publishing Professionals, the Professional Editors Network, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Copyediting, and She Writes, I am committed to professionalism in my field.
I hope to have the opportunity to work with you!
